EQDELUXE

AN EQ WORTH GETTING EXCITED ABOUT

VINTAGE TONE-SHAPING FOR BASS AND GUITAR

The all-analogue EQDELUXE doesn’t just shape your sound, it emphasises and enhances it. With huge low end and retro studio charm, this EQ is anything but a utility pedal. You’ll never want to turn it off!
The EQDELUXE is based on the 1950s Pultec EQP-1a studio EQ, a passive rack equalizer revered by high-end audio professionals for its musical EQ curves, subtle saturation, and the famous “Pultec Low-End Trick” that instantly adds weight in the bass frequencies. Pultecs are great for bass, but they also improve any signal chain just by being there. A must-have item in any serious studio.
The EQDELUXE recreates this beloved studio piece for bass and guitar, with carefully chosen EQ frequencies, and a response and harmonic complexity that elevate it way beyond the humble status of an EQ.

THE DETAILS:

THE PULTEC TRICK
The Pultec EQP-1a is celebrated for how it handles the low end, and the EQDELUXE mimics this prized behaviour in exact detail. By simultaneously using the BOOST and CUT controls on the Low Frequency Band, you can create a unique curve that adds weight in the bass frequencies, and improves midrange clarity at the same time. This effect is perfect for hefty bass tones, and it works great on guitars and other sources too.

STUDIO SATURATION
The EQDELUXE also captures the Pultec’s ability to breathe life into any signal. The Pultec EQP-1a has a push-pull valve make-up amplifier at its output, which contributes to the “mojo” of this sought-after unit. We have recreated this output stage using carefully designed solid-state circuitry, delivering precisely controlled, valve-like saturation straight from a 1950s studio.

VERSATILE VINTAGE EQ
It’s not all about the bass frequencies. The Mid Frequency Band uses the EQDELUXE’s inductor-based circuitry to provide a range of mid boosts, with frequencies chosen specifically for bass and guitar. The High Frequency Band keeps things sounding warm and balanced, with a wide range of high-frequency attenuation that adds the finishing touch to your tone. Even at the most extreme settings, all three bands of the EQDELUXE sound natural, musical and inspiring.
The EQDELUXE is at home in any bass or guitar rig, and its high-headroom circuitry makes it compatible with line-level signals in studio applications. Built to last using premium components, the EQDELUXE matches both the sound and the quality of one of history’s most respected studio pieces.

Power Supply

9V DC 2.1 mm centre-negative

Please note: the EQDELUXE is powered by a mains adaptor only (not included). We’ve dispensed with the usual 9V battery option, both to save space and to allow us to adopt a high-current approach, yielding lower noise levels and superior tone.

Origin Effects pedals are designed to deliver impeccable performance using a range of power supplies. We recommend you only use a regulated power supply specifically designed for guitar pedal applications as power supplies which do not have sufficient internal filtering can result in unwanted noise.

We recommend the following power supplies for use with our pedals:

  • Voodoo Labs Pedal Power series
  • Cioks supplies
  • Truetone 1 Spot Pro series
  • Strymon Zuma

This product should only be operated at 9V. The design employs a voltage doubling circuit to achieve higher internal voltages for improved sonic performance.
