2022: A Year In Review

December 23rd, 2022 |  John Dines

It’s been an eventful year for Origin Effects, with enticing new products, exciting new artists and even a big anniversary for the brand! So, as 2022 draws to a close, join us in looking back at some of the year’s most significant moments.

Febuary 2022:

Back in February, even before the BASSRIG pedals were launched, we received this photo of a BASSRIG Super Vintage on stage with Snoop Dogg at the Super Bowl Halftime show, in the care of session ace, Adam Blackstone. Needless to say, we were thrilled! Is this the biggest audience ever for an Origin Effects pedal?

That brings us neatly to another favourite moment of 2022: the BASSRIG launch! Our first Analogue Amp Recreation pedals for bass went down a storm, appearing in the rigs of some top players – and a lot of happy customers. Here’s a reminder of what all the fuss was about.

March 2022:

Back in March, Blackberry Smoke frontman, Charlie Starr, got hold of a DELUXE61 and it became our most watched video of the year!

April 2022:

Mike Exeter with Black Sabbath

Origin pedals end up in the hands of some pretty amazing artists so, this year, we began interviewing some notable Origin Effects users. Take another look at our first Artist Interview with UK producer, Mike Exeter. He tells his origin story, digs into his Origin-based recording rig and gives us an insight into working with another Origin artist, the great Tony Iommi!

July 2022:

Another first for Origin: the introduction of our Adaptive Circuitry, courtesy of the Halcyon Green Overdrive. Designed from the ground up and inspired by the world’s favourite green pedal, the Halcyon tackles one of the most-discussed issues out there – a mid-forward overdrive that really cleans up from the volume knob. We knew it’d cause a little controversy but those who have tried one will tell you it’s definitely not another clone. Why not have another listen?

October 2022:

2022 was an important year for Origin Effects, marking the 10th anniversary of the company. We’ve come a long way since Simon Keats made the first Cali76 Compressor and, to commemorate the occasion, we released a limited run of compressors in a stunning, laser-etched finish, inspired by the subtle look of our in-house prototypes. Just look at them!

We have a handful left availible, once they’re gone, they’re gone!

November 2022:

What’s that? Another new pedal?! The M-EQ Driver gave us a chance to do one of our favourite things: taking an iconic piece of studio equipment and cramming all the fun parts into a pedal. This mid-booster and drive tips its hat to the Pultec® studio EQs of the ‘50s, offering musical mids, studio saturation and the dynamic interaction of our Adaptive Circuitry.

Did we mention that we have awesome artists? This Autumn, we got a visit from Alessandro “VmanVenturella, bassist of metal giants, Slipknot. He came to Origin Effects HQ to try out some prototypes, blow our minds with his bass and guitar skills, and even had a go at building a pedal

Well, what a year! But we couldn’t have done it without the help of our fantastic customers. So, a big thank you to everyone in 2022 who bought an Origin pedal, watched one of our videos or just told their mates down the pub that they were thinking about a new compressor. It’s because of you that 2023 looks set to be even better! We look forward to sharing another year’s worth of guitar and bass goodies. Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
